Lead Scoring measures how valuable a lead is to your business. At LeadsTunnel, each lead is assigned a score on a scale from 0 to 100 to determine whether the lead is cold, warm, or hot. The higher the score means the "hotter" the lead is to your business. For instance, a lead with a lead score of 80 may worth more to your business than a lead with a lead score of 30. This helps you to prioritize which lead you should be focusing your time on first.

This is the lead scoring scale from 0 to 100:

Cold: 0-29
Warm: 30-89
Hot: 90-100

How Does Lead Scoring work?

At LeadsTunnel, our lead scoring metric is based on the following 5 attributes:

Email Format (10pts) - When a lead submits their email address, we will verify the syntax of the email to make sure it is in the correct format. For instance, we check to see if an email as the [at] symbol, inappropriate spaces or characters etc. If an email address has the proper syntax, then it will receive a full score of 10 points.

Email Domain (20pts) - In addition to the email address format, we will also verify that the email domain actually exists. For instance, an email address with the domain @example.com will receive 0 points, whereas an email address with the domain @gmail.com will receive 20 points.

Phone Number Format (30pts) - When a lead submits their phone number, we will verify that the format of the phone number is correct. For instance, a phone number that only has 5 digits will receive a score of 0 points, whereas a phone number with 10 digits will receive a full score of 30 points.

Automated Email Delivery (10pts) - If you have set up a LeadsTunnel campaign with Automated Email enabled, this attribute will be factored into the lead score. When the automated email is successfully delivered to the lead's email address, you will receive a full score of 10 points.

Automated Email Opened (20pts) -
If a lead opens the automated email, you will receive a full score of 20 points. The total score for Automated Email equals to 30 points. If the lead has opened the email, then they show more interest in your business offer.

Automated SMS Delivery (10pts) - If you have set up a LeadsTunnel campaign with Automated SMS enabled, this attribute will be factored into the lead score. When the automated SMS is successfully delivered to the lead's phone number, you will receive a full score of 10 points.

The maximum score a lead can receive is 100 points. By default, if your lead campaign only asks for email or phone number, then each lead will receive a score of 30 given that the information is correct.

The Lead Score does change overtime depending on any engagement the lead has with your business. For instance, if you only started with a lead's email address, then later finds out their phone number. You can add the phone number into the lead profile, doing so will increase the lead score from 30 to 60. Likewise, when a lead opens your automated email, the lead score will go up by 20 points.
